The Verizon router solid yellow light is not a complicated issue and you can be sure that you will make your network work again pretty soon. Here are some solutions other users have reported that have helped them. So, let’s begin with the easiest ones and move forward to the more complicated ones.

IMPORTANT: If you are uncomfortable with some of the solutions presented below we strongly suggest contacting the Verizon support.

Reboot the Verizon Router

Rebooting the router is a pretty simple and effective way to fix many different issues you might experience. It is important to do it properly and here is a step by step guide on how to reboot Verizon FiOS router:

  1. Disconnect the router from the power source.
  2. Wait 1-2 minutes.
  3. Connect the router back to the power source.
  4. Wait for a few minutes for the router to initialize back again.
  5. Try to connect to the internet.

Check the Cables

Damaged cables, loose connections, cables connected to the wrong port – all of these can make your internet connection go off. So, the best would be to check all the cables in your network. Pay special attention to the cables going into your router, from the ONT and so on. Also check whether everything is plugged in correctly to the right ports.

  • The cable from the wall jack should be plugged into the white Ethernet/WAN port.
  • All other devices connected to the router should be connected to the yellow LAN ports
  • The coax cable should go from the coax outlet to the coax port on the router if you have Fios TV.
  • Check whether the coax cable is firmly screwed in.

Sometimes when the connectors are bad or broken they can easily become loose and cause problems. Check that everything is firmly connected and if necessary replace any problematic cables or connectors.

Power-cycle the Verizon router and the ONT

IMPORTANT: If you are uncomfortable with this step please contact the Verizon support to do that for you.

Most people think they will mess things up if they mess with the ONT so it’s totally fine to get official help just in case. Contacting the support team is also good because they have the option to test your connection and figure out what might be causing the yellow light on your Verizon router.

Now if you have decided to proceed with this solution do the following:

  1. Press the Power switch on your router to turn it off.
  2. Now unplug the ONT from the AC power.
  3. If there is an ONT battery, disconnect it as well.
  4. Wait 1-2 minutes.
  5. Connect the ONT battery.
  6. Connect the AC adapter to the ONT.
  7. Wait for the ONT to stabilize (the green lights to come back on) and then turn the router back on.
  8. The yellow light should disappear and you should get back online.
