How to: Viasat Router Login Guide – HomeNetworkON

In this Viasat router login guide we are going to show you how to access the admin settings page on your Viasat Wireless gateway and Wi-Fi modem. The primary reason for this is to secure your router and make your home network safe from unauthorized access.

When you take your computer or smartphone and click the Wi-Fi icon you will probably see that some networks near you are open i.e., you can connect to them without entering a password. This is something we have to avoid because any device connected to our network can access the router settings and for example change the Wi-Fi password. If that happens all of our devices will be disconnected from the network. The only solution in this case would be to reset the Viasat router to factory settings and set up the network from scratch. Therefore, it’s better to take some time and login to your Viasat router and change your network name and Wi-Fi password for starters.

  1. Connect your device to the network
  2. Launch any web browser installed on your device
  3. Type the default Viasat IP 192.168.100.1 in the URL bar
  4. In the username field type admin. In the Password field type admin or enter the Admin Password or Key printed on a sticker on the router.
  5. Click on Sign in.

You are going to need:

A Viasat Wireless Gateway or Viasat Wi-Fi modem

Network access via Wi-Fi or a network cable

PC, tablet or smartphone

1. Connect your device to the network

In order to login to the Viasat wireless gateway successfully, you need to connect your device to the network where your Viasat router is. If your device isn’t connected to the network the Viasat router login will fail.

Depending on whether you are using a laptop or a desktop computer or a smartphone or a tablet you can connect to the network either using your Wi-Fi connection or just plug in the network cable directly to the device. If possible, always use the wired connection because it is more stable and you won’t get logged out of the network when changing some specific settings.

2. Launch any web browser installed on your device

All of us have a favorite browser installed on our devices. It doesn’t make a difference whether you are going to use Chrome, Firefox, Safari or any other. Just launch it and go to the next step.

3. Type the default Viasat IP 192.168.100.1 in the URL bar

Viasat wireless gateways use 192.168.100.1 as a default IP. You need to type this IP in the browser’s URL bar. If that is the correct router IP you will be asked to enter a username and a password. If the Viasat router login page doesn’t appear then the router IP is probably wrong either because you have mistyped it, typed it in the search field instead of the URL bar or simply your router is using a different default IP. You can easily check the router IP by following this guide.

4. Enter the default Viasat username and password

If you are trying to login to your Viasat Wi-Fi modem enter admin in the password field.

If you are trying to login to the Viasat Wireless gateway (VWG) the default password is printed on a sticker you can find on your router and it is labeled as Admin Password or key, so just take a look.

The Viasat router login username and password are case sensitive so pay attention when typing them.

5. Click on Sign in

After you have entered the Viasat router username and password click on the Sign in button below.

If the default login details haven’t been changed before you will now see the Viasat router admin panel. However, if you have changed these login details before, use them in step 4.

NOTE: If you have changed and forgotten the Viasat default username and password you will have to reset the Viasat wireless gateway to factory settings and then you will be able to login with the default login details. However, you will need to set up your ViaSat router again because all the changes you have made before will be deleted.

Final thoughts

We hope the Viasat router login steps were easy to follow for you and you are exploring the Viasat admin page now. There are many things you can do now starting from changing the Viasat network name and Wi-Fi password to setting up a separate Guest network and much more.

Take your time and change the default network name and password first. After that you can do other things to boost your home network security and similar.

Have fun!
